A
civil-military liaison conference was held at western command in
Chandimandir Cantonment. Inaugurated by Mr Om Prakash Chautala, Chief
Minister of Haryana, the one-day annual meet was attended by top officials
of the Haryana government and military officers from the western command.
In his inaugural address, Mr OP Chautala said that in
the last four years, 1872 ex-servicemen and their dependents were provided
jobs in various departments of the government. Last year, 116 posts
reserved for ex-servicemen in Police Department were filled up, he added.
In his welcome address, Lt Gen SS Mehta expressed
gratitude to the Chief Minister and the state administration for a very
positive response on various issues taken up with them. He said that
important decisions recently taken by the government of Haryana in this
regard included approval for re-alignment of 4.8 km of NH-22 passing
through Chandimandir Cantt to address the security concerns of the Army,
acceptance for construction of ‘Defence Officers Advanced Study
Institute’ at Sector-2, Panchkulla and allotment of land at Faridabad
and Gurgaon for development of healthcare and allied facilities for
serving and retired military personnel.
The conference witnessed a fruitful exchange of views
wherein most of the issues were resolved in positive manner.
