Trekking Expedition-2000

 

 

 

The All India Girls Trekking Expedition-2000, Shimla Hills was organised by NCC Group Headquarters, Shimla. Over 1000 NCC Girl cadets drawn from Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajashtan, Gujrat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh (UT) and J&K participated in the trek. The trek was formally flagged off by Mr Vishnukant Shastri, the Governor of Himachal Pradesh at Ridge, Shimla.

The base camp of the trek was established at Sadhupul near Kandaghat by 2 HP Battalion NCC, Mandi (HP). The trek was divided into 8 batches of 125 cadets each and each batch was allotted a duration of 14 days for the trek. The staging camps were established at Chail, Koti, Kufri and Shimla. The batches were rotated in such a manner that they had a minimum of two-day stay at each staging camp.

The staging camp at Chail was established at the highest cricketing ground in the world. The trail of the trek passed through one of the thickest forests of Ashia near Koti and Kufri. The batches covered a distance of 10-15 kms daily and in all over 90 kms distance was covered.
