The
Air Force Association (AFA)continues to gallop in its strides
to meet the aspirations of its members. With prestigious
projects like Senior Citizens Home at Tughlakabad and a
Placement Cell in its folds, the AFA is infact on its fast
track.’’ This was said by Air Chief Marshal SK Sareen,
(former Chief of the Air Staff) and President, Air Force
Association, while addressing the gathering at the annual
general meeting of the Air Force Association.
The annual raising day
of the Air Force Association was observed to remember officers
and airmen and their glorious service in defending the nation.
The wreath-laying
ceremony at Amar Jawan Jyoti was attended by retired
IAF Chiefs, President, Air Force Association, officials of AFA
and retired Air Force fraternity.
Air
Chief Marshal Sareen (Retd) informed the members that IAF
authorities has sanctioned Rs 15 lakh to the local medical
establishments to meet the requirements of retired IAF
personnel. The PIL filed in the supreme court seeking judicial
intervention for providing holistic medical cover had reached
advanced stages of hearing, he added. The placement cell at
AFA Head Office, New Delhi provides suitable avenues for a
second career and helps in preparation of CVs and techniques
to face the interviews. This enables the job-seekers to launch
themselves in civil market. The placement cell has been
equipped with the necessary infrastructure like computers,
web-site and internet facilities.
While addressing the
members of Air Force Association, Air Chief Marshal AY Tipnis
dwelt at length various welfare schemes in the pipeline.
Elaborating on critical issues like upgradation of medical
cover and insurance benefits for the retirees, he exhorted the
retired fraternity for their close cooperation not only during
peace-times but also during times when IAF was called upon to
play its combatant role in the defence of the country.
