The
Electronic and Mechanical Engineering Centre, Bhopal lifted
the second Army Adventure Cup 2000 competition which
concluded at Raiwala near Haridwar.
The chief guest, Lt Gen
P S Joshi General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command
gave away the prizes.
Speaking
on the occasion, Lt Gen P S Joshi called upon the officers and
all ranks to make sure that more people joined adventure
activities. In all 16 teams from the Army, Navy, Para Military
and Police took part in the tournament.
The teams had been
divided into four pools. Two top teams from each pool and two
teams, clocking best time were selected for participating in
the final round.
The
final contest starting from the Raiwala Barrage, with the 8-km
run was followed by 12-km cycling upto Phulchatti and 16-km
rafting down the river Ganga, was keenly contested. Last
year's winners BEG, Kirkee could bag only the third position
while 69 Mountain Brigade did very well to secure the second
place. The Kumaon Regimental Centre stood fourth in the
tournament. Maj Gen A K Hukku, General Officer Commanding, 6
Mountain Division was present on the occasion.
The key feature of the
concluding ceremony was the colourful march past, sky-jumping,
kayaking and canoeing and hot-air ballooning. A large number
of children from various schools witnessed the show. The Army
sources said that in future, this event would be conducted
both at national and international levels.
