Defence
Security Corps is a corps of the Army. It provides security
cover to various Defence/Armed Forces installations. In order
to re-habilitate ex-servicemen, only ex-servicemen are
employed by Defence Security Corps. Various details regarding
employment into the Corps and other benefits are given here.
Following are
the eligibility conditions for other ranks for employment in
the Corps:
(a) should
have minimum 5 years of previous colour service. Minimum 3
years embodied service for TA personnel with 7 ATCs.
(b) should be
below 45 years of age for Sepoys and Naiks and below 47 years
of age for Havildars to be enrolled only under lateral entry
system as Havildars. Those Havildars enrolled as Sepoys should
be below 45 years of age.
(c) should
posses Army Third Class Certificate of Education or equivalent
for Sepoy and Naik and Army Second Class Certificate of
Education or equivalent for Havildar.
(d) should
have been assessed for character at the time of discharge from
former service not below "Very Good".
(e) should be
in medical category ‘AYE’.
(f) date of
re-employment should be within 5 years of retirement from
former service.
Individuals
desirous of seeking enrollment into Defence Security Corps
should contact the Regimental Centre or nearest Recruiting
Office, that recruit personnel in the Corps.

Period
of Engagement :
(a)
NCOs : Initial term of engagement for 5 years extendable by 5
years at a time till 57 years of age, whichever is earlier.
(b)
Sepoy : Initial term of engagement for 10 years extendable by
5 years at a time till 57 years of age, whichever is earlier.
Gratuity and
Pension :
Under the
revised terms of gratuity and pension, DSC personnel will
continue to draw military pension and retain DCRG, in which
case their former military service shall not count as
qualifying service. They will be entitled to second pension
and DCRG, if service in DSC is 15 years or more. They will be
entitled to service gratuity and DCRG, if they serve in DSC
between 5 and 15 years.
If they
desire to count their previous military service then they will
cease to draw pension and also refund the service gratuity
including DCRG, if any.
As far as
possible posting of DSC personnel is done based on Zonal
System, their first and last postings are restricted to
stations falling in the jurisdiction of the state they belong
to.
In addition
to pay, DSC personnel will continue to get DA, CCA and other
allowances as applicable to Army personnel. They are also
entitled to 45 days annual leave and 15 days casual leave,
leave travel concession/free medical treatment for self and
dependents, hair cutting/cleaning and washing allowance,
children education allowance/re-imbursement of tuition fees,
free rations and other amenities as for regular Army
personnel, Army Group Insurance cover for Rs 3,75,000 on a
contribution of Rs 275 per month, benefits under AWWA Relief
Fund and benefits under Education Scholarship Scheme.
Scholarships
are also given to the children of DSC JCOs/OR on ‘marks’
basis departmentally by the Corps:-
(a) School
Stage - Rs 500 per annum
(b) College
Stage - Rs 1000 per annum
(c) Post
Graduate Stage - Rs 2000 per annum.
Defence
Security Corps offers ideal opportunity to ex-servicemen in
their rehabilitation. Since the working conditions and the
other terms of service are more or less similar to the Army,
the ex-servicemen can adopt themselves with ease. DSC provides
a gainful employment with dignity to ex-servicemen with
reasonable financial benefits.
