  Nagpurians Pay Homage to a Martyr
   
 

The mortal remains of Lance Naik Ratnakar Rama Kalambe of 17 Rashtriya Rifles were received with full military honours at the Sonegaon airport in Nagpur.

As the coffin was wheeled out of the airport terminal, the Guardsmen gave a Salami Shastra to their late comrade. The civilian and military dignitaries paid homage by placing wreaths.

Hailing from Jalalkheda village of Narkhed Tehsil of Nagpur District, Lance Naik Kalambe sacrificed his life on March 5 while engaged in operations against militants at Shri Khwaja in J & K.

The simple ceremony concluded with laying of wreath by Brig Tejinder Singh followed by playing of the Last Post on the bugle and a Shok Shastra by the Guards contingent.

The Army was represented by the Station Commander Kamptee, Brig Tejinder Singh, Lt Col PK Rawal, NCC OTC, Maj GR Yadav, Maj BN Bhandari, Capt Manoj Pethe and a large number of soldiers from the Guards Regiment Centre.

The body of Lance Naik Kalambe was sent to his village with full military honours.

L/Nk Kalambe is survived by his widow, Mrs Archana and a daughter, Rumani.
