AIDS Rally

 
 

AIDS awareness rally was conducted jointly by NCC cadets and Sonata Foundation. The rally comprising NCC cadets and Sonata Foundation members commenced from Kolkata and reached New Delhi. It was flagged off by Governor of West Bengal, Mr Viren J Shah. The rally passed through the states of Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and Haryana. Carrying AIDS awareness banners, the rally conducted roadshows, dramas and songs enroute. Apart from generating awareness on AIDS and promoting the need for an AIDS-free society, the rally aimed to recognise HIV positives as an integral part of the society.

This unique rally covering a distance of 2,300 kms conducted roadshows and street plays at Nizamuddin Railway Station, Okhla and other parts of the capital city. The rally was flagged in by Minister of Health and Family Planning, Delhi State, Dr AK Walia.
