Partnership for Talent Search

Mr Vijay Kapoor, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi suggested that the Armed Forces personnel should be allowed to work in the corporate sector for a period of four to five years to get the necessary management and technical experience. Addressing a national seminar on 'Defence Industry Partnership in Human Resources Management' jointly organised by Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) in New Delhi, he said this would benefit both the industry and the Armed Forces. Mr Kapoor said highly disciplined and trained manpower is available amongst ex-defence personnel in such diverse disciplines as information technology, engineering, adminis-tration, management, aviation and medicine. He further said that over 60,000 officers and men retire every year at a very early age. These personnel have been trained at the best institutions of the country and abroad and form a formidable human resource, readily available to the industry for absorption.

Earlier, Maj Gen VS Budhwar, Director General Resettlement, in his address said that unlike other professions, personnel in the defence forces retire at much younger age keeping in view the organisational needs. Almost 80 per cent retiring personnel are below 35 years of age. This well-trained and economically productive human resource is an asset to the country and can contribute significantly to nation-building, if optimally utilised. Referring to value system in the Armed Forces, Gen Budhwar said that the core value system of loyalty, selfless sacrifice, integrity, courage and honour imbued in the Armed Forces would hold good for any organisation that is result- oriented.

On this occasion, Directorate General Resettlement also launched its website www.jobsahead.com/dgr in association with jobs ahead. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of the jobsahead.com, Mr Puneet Dalmia said that the website would enable the corporate world to have an access to a pool of qualified manpower round-the-clock.

Lt Gen A Natarajan, Adjutant General, Army Headquarters, Mr S Sen, Deputy Director General, CII and senior managers of human resources department of different companies were also present on the occasion.
