The
62 Engineer Regiment celebrated its 37th raising day. On this occasion, a
number of senior officers including Lt Gen Hari Uniyal, Engineer-in-Chief,
ex-officers, JCOs and ORs sent their greetings to the regiment.
The
regiment has proved its mettle in various operations since its raising in
1967 at Roorkee. The regiment was awarded Theatre Honour in East Pakistan
in 1971. At present, the regiment is located in Northern Command and has
earned repute for its high professional standards.
In
the special sainik sammelan, Col Rajeev Chaudhry commended all
ranks for their dedication and selfless service and gave away the Pride
of Gyan Aur Shan awards to the personnel who performed extraordinarily
in various activities last year. He also explained the regiment's
philosophy, ek soch, ek bol, ek kadam, on this solemn occasion.
The
celebrations started with a Quarter Guard inspection. A bada khana with
variety entertainment programme and pagal gymkhana were organised
for the families of all ranks. A number of other functions including
special family welfare meet, lunch at JCOs' Mess and inauguration of Bhaiband
rooms marked the occasion.
