A Welfare Project with a Difference

Brig BS Grewal, Commander of an independent Armoured Brigade inaugurated ‘Falak’, a welfare project park created by Falcon Armoured Regiment under the guidance of the Commandant, Col Gurjeet Singh Chima. A STD booth constructed in the same complex was also inaugurated by Mrs Grewal and was dedicated to the welfare of soldiers.

"Falcon-Falak" has been established as part of a welfare project for soldiers. It is a multi faceted park. The beautiful sculpture of a cavalry soldier riding a horse and painting of a cavalry soldier adorns the entrance of the park. There are many other paintings on nature hung all around the park with a view to bring awareness about the nature.

There is a special counter for ice cream, soft drinks, tea and snacks at nominal rate. A STD booth established in the complex will help Jawans to communicate with their relatives and friends living far away.

A ‘Thanks giving counter’ is set-up by the Falcon Army Wives Welfare Association members in the park. This counter collects old clothes, toys, books, footwear and other items and will despatch the same to other welfare organisations which helps the poor and the needy. The "Falcon - Falak" park has been developed out of the resources made available from personal liaison and using obsolete and waste materials. The wood and metal were procured from ordnance depot salvage and the stone from local stone queries. The welder, carpenter and mason were made available from the Regiment itself. This park has been exclusively developed for Junior Commissioned Officer (JCOs), jawans and their families. This park will also be utilised for various social functions and welfare meetings.
