Headquarters,
36 Sector organised an ex-servicemen rally at Pooh on the Indo-Tibetan
Border in the remote district of Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh. The rally was
inaugurated by Lt Gen HS Kanwar, Chief of Staff, Western Command.
On
this occasion, a medical camp was also organised as a part of the rally.
Specialists from various disciplines such as medicine, surgery,
gynaecology, dentistry and ophthalmology attended the camp and treated the
ex-servicemen.
Addressing
the rally, Lt Gen HS Kanwar said that the Army has been trying its best to
help them. He advised them to approach Headquarters, 36 Sector in case
they had any problem. He also lauded the excellent work being done by the
ex-servicemen in nation-building. Brig Rajinder Singh, Commander, 36
Sector apprised the ex-servicemen of various schemes and opportunities
which have been provided by the government for their resettlement.
During rally, young men of the
tribal area were introduced to different types of weapons and equipment
being used by the Army. A veterinary camp was also organised during the
rally. In order to generate awareness of the public towards arboriculture
in the high altitude desert, a plantation drive was carried out and
saplings were planted. The opportunity was used to carryout check and
repair of vehicles of the ex-servicemen by the local workshop of the Army.
At the end, a barakhana was organised for ex-servicemen which
rekindled their nostalgia.
