Fire Fighting Training on INS Amba

Fire fighters and damage control parties on board have a vital role to play in containing fires, flooding and also the evacuation of personnel trapped in compartments. To keep service personnel trained, damage control (DC) and fire fighting (FF) training facilities were commissioned in December 1998 on the then 32 year old ship INS Amba. Since then approximately 150 officers and 2000 sailors of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard have been trained.

The DCFF model room has been established on INS Amba to demonstrate all types of damage control and fire fighting equipment and accessories which are used by the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. Personnel are given an orientation capsule consisting of one theory and practical instruction each before they are put into various situations.
