Indian Navy : Bridges of Friendship

The oceans of the world have been an enigmatic challenge to the mankind from the days of origin itself. Since time immemorial, ships of different navies protray a true-to-life picture of the nation they belong to and, more particularly, the might of the respective nation.

Friendship and co-operation are strengthened by sharing and exchanging training facilities with friendly nations and conducting joint exercises. However, the most significant way of building bridges of friendship is by goowill visits by ships with the message of camaraderie. All the navies of the world exchange goodwill by sending their warships to other countries and India is no exception.

The most recent goodwill visit by Indian Navy was undertaken by the Eastern Fleet ships with INS Delhi flying the flag of the FOCEF. These ships visited Shanghai (China), Pusan (South Korea), Sasebo (Japan), Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Jakarta (Indonesia). The interaction with different navies and their countries was very warm and friendly. The mission was a total success. The shipbuilding capabilities, professionalism and technological advancement of the Indian Navy was highly appreciated.

The goodwill visits are a very pragmatic way of portraying deterrence, by increasing the exposure and boosting the morale of officers and sailors. The age-old slogan "join the Navy and see the world", is true in both letter and spirit.
