Seminar on Hospital Management

 
 

A five-day seminar on hospital management was held at the Command Hospital in Chandimandir Cantonment. Organised under the aegis of Headquarters Western Command, the seminar benefited senior Army Medical Corps specialists posted in the Western Sector. A number of specialists from civil hospitals also attended the seminar.

In his inaugural address at the seminar, Lt Gen Surjit Singh, GOC-in-C, Western Command, stressed the need of according top priority to better medicare in the military hospitals. The issue of hospital management came up prominently in the last Army Commanders’ conference in New Delhi and it was felt that there was enough scope for further improvement of healthcare services by the use of modern techniques of hospital management.

Lt Gen Surjit Singh said that with the expectations of the clientele rising continually, the job of providing medicare has become more challenging. Therefore, the doctors, nurses and the para-medical staff should be motivated with a positive attitude to provide better medicare to the patients. Criticism and feedback emanating from the patients must be examined to bring about improvement in the services, he added. He assured the Command Hospital authorities that requirements projected by the hospital would be addressed.

Welcoming the GOC-in-C, members of the faculty and delegates, Maj Gen Pratap Dayal, Commandant, Command Hospital hoped that experts from the civil hospital and AMC officers would have an excellent opportunity to exchange views for mutual benefit. He thanked the Army Commander for providing adequate funds for modernisation of various services.

The seminar focussed on a wide range of subjects including human resources management, material management, management of support services and waste management. Besides, hi-tech tele-medicine and computerisation in medical services also received special attention
