On Peace-Keeping Mission

 
 

The 1/11 Gorkha Rifles left for UN peace-keeping mission in Lebanon. Lt Gen NC Vij, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, addressed the troops on the eve of their departure. He said that all Indian troops assigned the task of peace-keeping operations have done a commendable job.

The battalion has been given specialised training for the task. They have been given lessons in the local language. They have also been equipped with the working knowledge of the customs and traditions in the area of the their deployment. Most importantly, the troops have been trained in behaviour so that they are not only impartial in all respects but are also seen to be so during this tenure.
