Defence
Minister, Mr George Fernandes visited Siachen sector and inaugurated
a medical aid centre for troops and civilians. Kolhapur based
Pudhari group of newspapers donated Rs. 2.05 crore for this purpose.
Located at an altitude of 10,000 ft, this hospital is a long awaited
addition to the medical facilities in this remote frontier of the
country.
This
was the 20th visit of the Defence Minister to Siachen sector where
he also addressed the troops and interacted with them. Later, the
minister visited Leh to witness an air display by MiG-29
fighter aircraft.
