Medical-Cum-Veterinary Camp

 

 

The Fourteen Rajput located at Payarpura (Hyhama) District Kupwara is one of the few units to have initiated winds of change within its area of operation. The 14 Rajput along with the government hospitals at Kupwara organised a free medical-cum-veterinary camp. The Commander, 68 Mountain Brigade, Brig A K Singh inaugurated the medical-cum-veterinary camp. Mr Sayed Haqnawaz, DC, Kupwara, Mr GM Dar, SSP Kupwara and Mr Garib Das, SSP Handwara were present at the camp.

The Army provided two doctors, two lady gynaecologists and a dental surgeon. The Government Hospital, Kupwara provided the services of an eye specialist, one medical specialist, a lady doctor and a dentist. Two veterinary doctors, one each from the Army and the Government Animal Husbandry Department, were also present to provide veterinary services. Free medicines for both the people and animals were provided by the Army and the District Hospital, Kupwara.

Vehicles were arranged by the Army for conveyance of the villagers to the medical camp from remote areas. Refreshments were also provided for all the patients who visited the medical camp.

Various grievance cells were put up by the DC and the SSP of Kupwara district.Grievances of the locals of the area were registered.

In the veterinary camp, a large number of livestock were treated for liver diseases, anemia, FMD and other common ailments. User-friendly medicines were also handed over to the locals to administer to their cattle which were either too sick to move or were grazing in high pastures far from Payarpura.

Other efforts by this unit to improve the social conditions of the locals of Hyhama include the training and orientation of youth for recruitment training for joining the Army, Police and BSF. It has also imparted computer training to the youth and provisioned drinking water facilities for the school children.
