Army Aquatics Championship At Roorkee

 

 

The VI Army Aquatics Championship was held at Bengal Engineers Group and Centre, Roorkee. Brig S N Mukherjee, Commandant, Bengal Engineers Group and Centre, Roorkee declared the meet open. The competitions were held in diving, swimming and waterpolo events. Eighteen new Army records were made and seven Services records were broken during the meet.

In the swimming and diving event, the Madras Engineers Group stood first followed by the Bengal Engineers Group and Army Ordnance Corps as second and third respectively. In the waterpolo event, the Bengal Engineers Group captured the first position with the second and third slot going to the Madras Engineers Group and the Bihar Regimental Centre respectively.

Lt Gen Yuvraj Mehta, Commandant, Indian Military Academy, Dehra Dun was the chief guest on the final day. Nb Sub T A Sujit of Madras Engineers Group and Centre, Bangalore was declared the best swimmer and Hav Yogesh Watave of Bengal Engineers Group and Centre, Kirkee was adjudged as the best diver at the championship.
