This
was AWWA’s another good gesture. This time, the film world also came
forward and gave a helping hand. The occasion was screening of the film
‘The Hero’ and money collected from the screening was earmarked for
welfare of war widows, physically challenged soldiers and ex-servicemen.
AWWA, Maharashtra and Gujarat Area under the guidance of Mrs Neelu Tez
Kaul organised this event at YB Chavan Centre, Mumbai.
Mrs
Shiv Jyot Sihota, President, AWWA Southern Command was the chief guest on
the occasion. She congratulated the organisers for the well-attended film
show and gave details of various activities undertaken by AWWA Southern
Command. Mrs Sihota also felicitated film stars Preity Zinta, Priyanka
Chopra, Malvika Arora, Amrish Puri, Anil Sharma and Dheeraj Shah on this
occasion.

Area, other senior Army officers and government officials attended this
show with their families. Dhirajlal Shah and Pravin Shah of the Times
Group and Ketan Parikh of Gems & Jewellers National Relief Foundation
sponsored the film show.
The
Army Wives Welfare Association was established to ameliorate the hardship
of the gallant soldiers of the Indian Army and their families. The
organisation has been working tirelessly towards the rehabilitation of
those who lost their breadwinners during military operations. AWWA is
registered as a non-governmental organisation and it has been serving with
the motto : Asha-Vishwas-Astha.
