The
Army, under the guidance of Maj Gen V S Yadav, General Officer Commanding,
Maharashtra & Gujarat Area, has provided more facilities for
ex-servicemen in Mumbai. The focus of the efforts have primarily been on
medical and canteen facilities.
The Section Hospital, at Santacruz,
a 10-bed hospital providing comprehensive medical care to the
ex-servicemen and dependents, has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 9.80
lakh. The hospital has got a facelift in all respects with better and more
comfortable facilities. A colorimeter has also been added to perform
specialised investigations. Further, the hospital can now procure medical
stores directly from AFMSD instead of getting it routed through INHS Asvini.
The MI Room at Juhu has also been
renovated. The medical officer visits the MI Room every Wednesday and
Saturday. The medicines for chronic ailment, as prescribed by specialists
of INHS Asvini, are issued here. The ex-servicemen can also collect
medicines and results of investigations through this MI Room. They are
also briefed on the latest facilities available at INHS Asvini and
other Armed Forces medical centres.
The issue of canteen cards for all
three canteens in Mumbai has been simplified through a single window
concept. The canteen at Colaba has been air-conditioned and stocked with
attractive items. A wide variety of items ranging from grocery, clothes
and ready to cook vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes have been added.
Similar facilities have been created at the Area Juhu Canteen as well.
