Army HQ Signals Regiment proved themselves.
Since 1953, Army HQ Signals Regiment
has been laying audio cables and setting sound amplifier systems for the
Republic Day parade on Rajpath, New Delhi. These amplifiers are used for
live commentary and announcements during the parade. The work for laying
audio cable and setting sound amplifiers starts 90 days before the parade.
The sound amplifier systems and cable are laid all through the length of
2.5 km on Rajpath, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate. The amplifier system is
effective for about 200 metres on both sides of Rajpath.
Earlier, it used to take about four
months for doing this job. Thanks to the modern technology, today the
entire process has been fine-tuned for better sound results. Overhead
cables are being replaced by underground cables and other technical aids
have reduced the time involved in this job. Live telecast of Republic Day
parade is done by Doordarshan and also broadcast by All India
Radio for the public across the country. But for the spectators who
throng the venue to watch the parade commentary is broadcast through a PA
equipment which includes 116 amplifiers, 20 loudspeakers, eight CD players
and eight cassette decks. The success of the event itself tells the story
of hard work done by the regiment.
This
year, laying of audio cables started after bhoomi pooja at Rajpath.
