An ultra modern Infertility Clinic-cum-Laboratory at the Military Hospital, Jodhpur was inaugurated by the President Regional Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), Mrs Aruna Gangadharan.

The Military Hospital (MH), Jodhpur provides medical cover also to large number of serving and retired Army and Air Force personnel from areas like Jaisalmer and Barmer. The establishment of this clinic is an important project forming part of the various welfare activities undertaken by AWWA for the families of defence personnel. The President, Regional AWWA took a serious note of the lack of facilities for the treatment of infertility cases in the region. This project would enable MH Jodhpur to help a large number of childless couples among defence personnel of this area.

Mrs Aruna Gangadharan being briefed on the facilities at the Infertility Clinic

Of late there has been an increased incidence of childless couples in the general population and the defence personnel families are no exception to this trend. In the absence of any Infertility Clinic in this area, the infertility cases/childless couples had to be referred to either the Artificial Reproductive Treatment (ART) Centre at the Army Research & Referral Hospital, New Delhi or to the Command Hospital, Pune. This entailed repeated journeys with the inherent inconvenience and additional travel expenses. With the establishment of this Infertility Clinic-cum-Laboratory at the MH Jodhpur, all the affected defence personnel and their families in need would be benefitted. The clinic is equipped with all modern techniques and comprehensive procedurs such as hormonal assays, intra-uterine insemination and laparoscopic procedures.
