A
national Continuing Medical Education (CME) seminar on ‘Haematopoietic
Stem Cell - 2002’ was conducted by Armed Forces Transfusion Centre (AFTC)
at Ayurvigyan Auditorium of Army Hospital (R&R), Delhi Cantt. It was
inaugurated by Lt Gen RK Jetley, DGAFMS and Senior Colonel Commandant of
AMC. More than 200 delegates, both from Armed Forces and civil
institutions, participated.
Eminent speakers of international
and national repute participated in the seminar. While Dr Bhawna Sirohi
from Royal Marsden Hospital, Surrey, UK spoke on ‘allogeneic bone marrow
transplantation’ and Dr PM Parikh from TMH, Mumbai discussed the ‘graft
manipulation’. Col PS Dhot, Col Rajat Kumar and Lt Col PC Chitalkar
focussed on ‘haematopoietic stem cell transplantation’ (HSCT) in Armed
Forces. While Dr A Srivastava from CMC, Vellore discussed ‘HSCT in
Thalassaemia,’ Dr C Vishwanathan from NPFC, Mumbai covered various
aspects of HSCT. Dr Yogesh Chawla from PGI, Chandigarh spoke on recent
advances in treatment, of hepatitis and Prof Pradeep Seth from AIIMS, New
Delhi on new developments in HIV testing.
