Gen
S Padmanabhan, Chief of the Army Staff visited Indian Military Academy (IMA)
recently. The Army Chief was received by Lt Gen TS Shergill, Commandant,
IMA and was introduced to senior officers.

S Padmanabhan who passed out from IMA in the year 1959 was the Thimayya
Battalion Commander of the Academy from March 1980 to January 1982 and
later took over as Colonel General Staff. It was his second visit to the
Academy - the first one being on March 13, last year.

Padmanabhan visited the computer laboratory where he was briefed on the
ADP training being imparted to the future officers of Indian Army. Army
Chief was very happy to see the functioning of two Internet Labs where the
networking is of the present day configuration. Internet Labs are open to
all officers and Gentlemen Cadets and are being extensively used. Later,
the Army Chief went around the IMA campus and saw various projects in
progress.
Mrs Roopa Padmanabhan who
accompanied the Army Chief attended a welfare meet at IMA’s Khetrapal
Auditorium. She was received by Mrs Rindi Shergill, President AWWA, IMA.
The ladies also presented an entertainment programme on this occasion.
