Defence
Minister, Mr George Fernandes visited the troops of the Red Horns Division
in Lower Assam. He was accompanied by Lt Gen JS Varma, General Officer
Commanding, Gajraj Corps.
Maj
Gen Gaganjit Singh, General Officer Commanding, Red Horns Division
received the Minister at Rangiya. The GOC briefed and apprised the
Minister of the prevailing situation in the Lower Assam. Mr Fernandes
complimented the troops for excellent performance in counter-insurgency
operations as well as the civic activities carried out by Army under
operation samaritan. The Defence Minister later interacted with the troops
and enquired about their welfare during the barakhana hosted by the Red
Horns Division.
The
troops of the Red Horns Division deployed in the Darang district were also
visited by Mr Fernandes. The Minister was conducted by Brig Rana Goswami,
Commander, Hatigor Brigade.
