Celebrates Annual Day
Appu
School, established under the aegis of Gajraj Corps, is located in the 4
Corps Provost Unit Lines. The school was inaugurated by Mrs EA Vas, the
then President, Gajaraj AWWA on December 28, 1978.
The
school celebrated its annual day recently with lot of fun and fiesta. The
chief guest on the occasion was Mrs Kumkum Kumar, Secretary, Gajraj AWWA.
The
celebrations began with the presentation of a report by Mrs Chaiti Ghose,
Principal of the school, who highlighted various activities and
achievements of the school during last year. She also highlighted various
measures taken by the school to adopt the "playway method" of
teaching, the latest method of kindergarten teaching.
Later,
the tiny-tots presented a spectacular show of fun, frolic and music which
was appreciated by the audience. It was followed by prize distribution.
Mrs Kumkum Kumar gave away prizes to the tiny-tots, encouraging them for
their efforts. Speaking on the occasion, she complimented the Principal,
teachers and students for the spectacular show.
Career
Guidance Bureau
A
career guidance bureau has been established by Charwa Gunners at Panbari,
Kaziranga to provide information on career opportunities available to the
energetic and educated youth of Assam. The bureau was inaugurated by Brig
HS Sandhu, Commander, Dah Artillery Brigade in the presence of Lt Col RK
Nair, Commanding Officer, Charwa Gunners. The bureau aims to provide all
information on career prospects to the aspirants.
Annual
Flower Show
The
flower show-cum-competition for Tezpur Military Garrison was held at the
155 Base Hospital lawns. All units in the station put up their best
efforts to make the event a grand success.
The
show comprised seven major competitions and 23 minor competitions.
Varieties of bonsai and cacti were also on display. The other main
attraction was the stall opened by the Defence Research Laboratory, Tezpur
for generating awareness on the latest techniques and methods developed
for growing and nurturing plants and vegetables.
The
show culminated with a prize distribution ceremony attended by Lt Gen
Mohinder Singh, General Officer Commanding, Gajraj Corps and Mrs Jasbir
Mohinder Singh, President AWWA 4 Corps. The prizes to the winners and the
runners-up in different categories were distributed by Mrs Jasbir Mohinder
Singh.
Corps
Day Celebrations
The
Ordnance units of Narangi military station celebrated the Corps Day with
lot of enthusiasm. On this occasion, sports competitions and pagal
gymkhana were held. A special sainik sammelan was also held
wherein Col M Rajgopal, Commandant, 222 ABOD felicitated all ranks of the
unit for an excellent all-round performance by the depot. He asked them to
rededicate themselves to achieve higher professional goals and provide
good material support to dependent units. The outstanding workers among
the civilians were also awarded on the occasion.
Health
Camp
General
Hospital (Territorial Army), Guwahati organised a health camp for
ex-servicemen and civilians at Am Singh Jorabat village for three days. A
team of doctors led by Lt Col AK Adhikari, CO General Hospital (TA)
Guwahati and a team of medical specialists examined the patients.
Laboratory investigations were carried out and distribution of medicines
was arranged free of cost. Health awareness lectures on prevention of
malaria and water borne diseases were delivered by eminent specialists.
Sanoa
Water Project
Sanoa
is one of the remote villages of Lower Assam having a population of
approximately 2000 people. The villagers are totally dependent on ponds
and hand-pumps for drinking water. The water they were using earlier was
contaminated and unhygienic. This led to a large number of water-borne
diseases. Inadequate medical facilities resulted in poor health of the
villagers. The children and elderly people were badly affected.
The
Army came forward to solve this problem. As a part of operation Samaritan,
a project was undertaken by 14 Field Regiment of the Red Horns
Artillery Brigade to install four electric water pumps with adequate
storage and filter facilities. The project costing Rs 2 lakh was completed
in a short span of two months.
Col
Balbir Singh, Deputy Commander, Red Horns Mountain Artillery Brigade
dedicated the project to the people of Sanoa at a simple ceremony which
was attended by key officials and local people.
NCC
Expedition
A
mounted expedition to Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary by NCC cadets of 47
Assam Remount and Veterinary Squadron NCC was flagged off by Dr GL Kaul,
Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University from Veterinary College
campus, Guwahati.
Forty
NCC cadets took part in the expedition and covered a distance of more than
120 kms. At Pabitora the cadets held a veterinary aid camp for two days
and conducted lectures for villagers on animal husbandry. The speakers
apprised the farmers of the latest techniques in animal farming.
