Gen Malik Bids Adieu

On September 30 last, Gen V P Malik handed over the reins of Indian Army to Gen S Padmanabhan.

Gen V P Malik, who was commissioned on June 7, 1959 had taken over as the Chief of Army Staff from Gen Shankar Roychowdhury on October 1, 1997. After completing the three-year tenure as COAS, he handed over his charge to Gen S Padmanabhan, a gunner officer of December 1959 batch.
