Recruits Ready for Action

Three-hundred-and-fortytwo recruits, undergoing training at the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre, Delhi Cantonment, became Infantry soldiers after the attestation parade, held at Rajputana Rifles Centre. The attestation parade was reviewed by Lt Gen Raj Kadyan, Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Training & Coordination), who is also the Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles.

Medals for outstanding achievements in training and sports were awarded to the young "Riflemen" by the chief guest. The parade culminated with laying of wreath by the Colonel of Regiment at the Memorial. After the attestation parade, the young soldiers left for their respective battalions with most of them deployed in Jammu and Kashmir and operation Prakram.

Later addressing the officers, JCOs and other ranks of the regiment, Lt Gen Raj Kadyan called upon the recruits to keep the traditions of the regiment high by following the traditions of valour and sacrifice. He handed over the baton of the "Colonel of Regiment" to Maj Gen Rakesh Dass, who took over as Colonel of Regiment from Lt Gen Kadyan as he retired after a distinguished service of about four decades.
