Chief of the Army Staff, Gen NC Vij paid a two-day visit to Jodhpur Military Station. He was accompanied by Mrs Rita Vij, President Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). Lt Gen S Sihota, Southern Army Commander, Lt Gen R Subramanyam, GOC, Desert Corps, Air Cmde AR Nigam, AOC Air Force station, Jodhpur and Brig KD Malhotra, Station Commander, received the Army Chief at the Air Force station.

During the visit, the COAS addressed all officers of the station and exhorted them to be vigilant and fully trained to meet any unforeseen eventualities. He went around the station and was impressed by the innovative methods adopted for the welfare of the troops like modern cook houses, Battle Axe Other Ranks Institute, Konark Shopping Arcade, library and school for special children. He said that Jodhpur would be a model for other military stations too. He praised all ranks for making the cantonment green and eco-friendly. Gen Vij held detailed discussions with the Army and Desert Corps Commanders on the current security situation, training activities and operational preparedness.
