Motivating March to Mainstream

Army achieved a major breakthrough in motivating militants to come back to the mainstream. Thirty ULFA and NDFB militants surrendered before Lt Gen Mohinder Singh, GOC, Gajraj Corps at a function organised by the Red Horns Divison at Tamulpur in Nalbari district. Among them women militants were also present.

While interacting with the mediapersons, Lt Gen Mohinder Singh lauded the decision of the militants to shun the path of violence and join the mainstream. He added that these youth have realised the futility of their violent mission and hoped that they would be able to motivate others to join the mainstream. He assured that all militants who wish to surrender would be welcomed with open arms and provided with all assistance by the administration. He said that last year a large number of militants were apprehended, about 230 were eliminated and about 200 surrendered.

Maj Gen KK Kohli, Brig Jatinder Singh, Commander Tamulpur Brigade and Padmashri RN Upadhyay were also present on the occasion. Eminent citizens of Nalbari district, local dignitaries and the relatives of the militants also attended the event. The family members of the militants thanked the Army units for bringing back their loved ones from the path of violence.
